Las Vegas Working Dogs of Nevada case: 35 dogs seized in cruelty investigation

Record
According to People and local outlets, Las Vegas police searched Working Dogs of Nevada after receiving employee tips and videos of alleged training practices that authorities believed could amount to felony animal cruelty.
What happened and verification
John Johnstone was reported to face multiple felony cruelty counts, while Tabitha Berube was accused of failing to intervene after witnessing a harmful technique. Thirty-five dogs were taken to The Animal Foundation for examination and care.
The central point is not an ordinary training dispute. Reports cited allegations of forceful leash handling, dogs being lifted from the ground, and repeated use of electric collars.
Archive note
GAM records the case because institutions using the language of service or working dogs must still be accountable to the animals in their care.
