Shenyang, Liaoning: woman killed four kittens in a cat room, reportedly claiming revenge for a scratch

On August 3, 2025, in a cat room in Shenyang, Liaoning, a female customer was accused of repeatedly hitting and throwing kittens inside a private viewing room. 8world, citing Toutiao News, reported that four kittens had died and two others were being treated. The woman reportedly claimed she acted in revenge after being scratched. Staff said police had been notified.

A private viewing room should not become a place to harm animals
The room was used for customers viewing cats. Staff said they normally do not stay inside all the time in order to give customers privacy. CCTV footage, according to the report, showed the woman repeatedly striking one kitten, then picking it up and throwing it hard to the ground, making it scream and flee.
That privacy should have allowed quiet observation and gentle interaction. It should not have become an opening to hurt small animals. Kittens are fragile; when an adult suddenly hits and throws them, they have almost no ability to protect themselves.
A scratch cannot justify revenge against kittens
The woman later told staff she was taking revenge because a cat had scratched her. Staff said a normal interaction would not have led to such scratching, and that customers had been clearly told not to take kittens out of the cages to play.
Even if someone is scratched while interacting with an animal, the answer is to stop contact, clean the wound, seek staff help and medical care. Turning a scratch into violence against multiple kittens is unacceptable cruelty.
Four dead, two under treatment
Staff said four kittens had died and two injured kittens were receiving treatment. They also noted that the cats were golden shaded cats usually worth more than 4,000 yuan. This archive records that price as part of the reported property loss, but the core loss cannot be measured by money: fear, pain and death fell on very young animals.
The number also matters. The violence did not fall on one cat only. Several kittens in the same enclosed space suffered, showing a sustained release of anger against small lives.
After a police report, the lives themselves still need to be remembered
The report said staff had called the police and would wait for the owner to return from a business trip to handle the matter. If later public results appear, this archive can be updated.
Whatever legal route follows, the deaths of four kittens have already happened. Recording them prevents the case from being reduced to “shop loss” or “customer dispute.” They were lives that could feel pain, fear and struggle, and they should not disappear because of a person’s revenge.
