When the black snake reached the home

Public reports said a black cobra entered the residential area of a family in Karnal. A venomous snake suddenly appearing in a home space is a serious risk for both people and animals.

Jimmy, a nine-year-old Labrador, noticed the danger first. She did not retreat. She rushed toward the cobra and put her own body between the threat and the family.

Bitten, but still fighting

The Times of India reported that Jimmy was bitten in the mouth during the confrontation and was bitten more than once. Even then, she kept attacking until the immediate threat was gone.

The act does not need to be turned into a fairy tale. It can be understood as instinct, attachment and protection erupting in a few seconds: when danger crossed the threshold, the family dog moved to the front.

Sumit's sentence

The snake was later caught and released into its habitat. Jimmy, however, did not survive until a veterinarian could arrive. The venom spread quickly, and she died within minutes.

Owner Sumit said emotionally in the video that he was alive only thanks to Jimmy. To him, Jimmy was not just a watchdog, but a family member who had lived with them for almost nine years.

Why this record matters

This record belongs in the archive of family dogs protecting people. Its purpose is not to encourage people or animals to approach venomous snakes, but to preserve a documented moment when a dog gave her life to keep her family safe.
