Entering the disaster area at one year old
Public records state that Bingjie was born in 2007, served with Nanjing firefighting forces and worked with handler Ouyang Honghong. When the Wenchuan earthquake struck in 2008, the dog was still young but entered the disaster area for search and rescue.
A Sina Finance republication of The Paper's report stated in its title that Bingjie found 13 lives at the age of one. That number points to the concrete value of search dogs at disaster sites: scent can lead human rescuers toward places where life may still remain.

More than one rescue
Bingjie's public record did not end at Wenchuan. Listed rescue operations include the 2008 China snowstorms, the 2010 Nanjing July 28 explosion, the 2014 Kunshan Zhongrong factory explosion and the 2016 Funing tornado and hail disaster in Jiangsu.
Those places and years show that a working dog's life is not a single highlight. Such dogs are repeatedly taken to dangerous sites and work among dust, snow, blast debris and collapsed structures.
The last Wenchuan search dog to die
Bingjie died on October 2, 2021. Public records describe Bingjie as the last of the search dogs that had participated in Wenchuan earthquake rescue to pass away. The statement gives the death a generational feeling: the dogs that entered the Wenchuan ruins were reaching the end of their lives.
This record uses the Wikimedia article image because the currently verifiable public image is low-resolution. It is not a high-definition news original, but it is traceable and real, not a synthetic placeholder.
Why this record matters
Names such as Shenhu and Bingjie remind us that disaster memory also contains animal bodies. They were not tools or symbols used only for human emotion; they trained, entered danger, carried labor, aged and died.
Bingjie's life connects Wenchuan memory, Nanjing firefighting and multiple public disaster responses. GAM records the dog so that a working life stretched across many rescue scenes is not lost.
