Appollo was an NYPD German Shepherd search-and-rescue dog who reached the World Trade Center site soon after the towers fell and received the Dickin Medal on behalf of 9/11 rescue dogs.

Appollo reached the World Trade Center site soon after the towers fell and searched amid severe hazards.

His Dickin Medal represented the wider community of search-and-rescue dogs after 9/11.

Appollo is archived because disaster memory should include the trained animal teams that entered the rubble early.
