In June 2025, a dog owner contacted police after trainer Kwong (Tony) Chun Sit reportedly texted that the owner’s dog had died in its sleep and had been cremated. Irvine Police Animal Services began investigating and recovered multiple dog bodies from different crematoriums. Public reports identify Sit as operating training and boarding services under names including Happy K9 Academy.

AP’s charging-stage report says prosecutors accused Sit and his girlfriend Tingfeng Liu of attempting to destroy evidence after the deaths, including by taking dog bodies to different crematoriums. Early necropsies had already identified heat stroke and blunt force trauma among examined dogs.

In June 2026, People reported, citing the Orange County District Attorney’s Office, that Sit was convicted of 11 felony animal-cruelty counts, seven misdemeanor attempted evidence-destruction counts, and one misdemeanor evidence-destruction count. Liu was convicted on accessory and evidence-related counts. The report said two dogs had been cremated before official examination; of the remaining nine, eight died of heat stroke and one of blunt force trauma.

This archive records the case as a major harm and death incident in a training/boarding-care context. The images are case-related public-report images of the defendants, not dog remains, injury scenes, or graphic material. Sentencing should be checked against later court records.
