Jake was an American black Labrador rescued as an injured puppy and later trained into a federal search-and-rescue dog who worked after 9/11, Hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Rita.
United States, including New York, the Gulf Coast and Utah

Story
Jake was first an injured abandoned puppy, then became a federally certified search-and-rescue dog with Mary Flood and Utah Task Force 1.
He worked at Ground Zero for 17 days, later deployed after Hurricane Katrina and Rita, and helped train younger rescue dogs in his later years.
Jake is archived because his life joins rescue received, rescue given, and the long-term costs and responsibilities of disaster work.
