Story

Morris Frank went to Switzerland after reading Dorothy Harrison Eustis's article about guide dogs and was paired with a German Shepherd he renamed Buddy.

Their return to the United States became a public demonstration that blind people could travel independently with trained guide dogs.

Buddy's story is archived because it helped change public access and independence for blind people, not merely because of one dramatic incident.
